Friday Fun: I’ve Got Cake!

Continuing on with the foodie theme, I simply had to share this video of John Barrowman and David Tennant. It has nothing to do with Spooks whatsoever but it makes me giggle every time and all this Lucas diet chatter is giving me sugar cravings.

For those of you who don’t know I’m a Doctor Who fantragic as well as a Spooks fantragic. Are there any other Whovians out there? I haven’t gone as far as knitting myself a Tom Baker scarf but I do own a little blue box. I think I’ve done rather well to keep Who references on this blog to a minimum so far. So permit me this one indulgence..

QUESTION: Which regular actor from any series of Spooks would make a great Doctor?
I’m thinking Sam Buxton would be a perfect plucky assistant. As for the Doctor, that’s a tougher call. Hugh Laurie would probably get my vote. What do you think?

HEADS UP! Next Friday there will be another Friday Photo Caption Contest, this time featuring Sir Harry and a Harry themed prize!

Me lovez Who too!!!! I don’t have a scarf or blue box, but a pen that more than slightly resembles a sonic screwdriver.. and in my imagination I’m using it at least 10 times a day. Resulting in a stupid grin on my face when I picture the situation.. (same grin I had when you posted that Lucas/McGuyver/Doctor reference..)
Much as I adore David Tennant (especially when he speaks Scots :) my favourite Doctor still is the 9th (of the ‘new’ one.. I only vividly remember Tom Baker of the old guard. Eccleston had this dark, edgy, gritty, rude quality that made me enjoy the return of the Doctor..I prefer dark.
Anyroad, hours away from weekend followed by holidays, still lots to be done. No cake tonight but heaps of very ripe strawberries. Maybe dipped in dark chocolate :D
Hope the move is going well/did go well and you’re settling in alreet. Have a good weekend which way ever, and do have some cake.. I recommend this one

Blimey! A Guinness chocolate cake? I should get into baking again..

Eccleston was great. He seems to be forgotten somewhat after DT came along.. but it was Eccleston who made us fall in love with Doctor Who again so he deserves much praise. Having said that, DT is my favourite of the new Drs :)

I love Doctor Who! Ooh yeah, Sam would make a good assistant! As for the doctor I don’t know either! I asked my sister she said Sophia Myles haha and she thought Zaf’d be a good doctor.

sorry don’t like Dr. Who….don’t get it at all. LOVE David Tennant – in fact fell in love with him watching “Casanova”…I’ve tried to watch Dr. Who – can’t do it….I really don’t enjoy sci-fi – I would be very hard pressed to watch even if “The Boys from 5″ showed up.
Looking forward to the new caption contest!!!
    Have a great weekend!

I think it’s one of those shows you have to grow up with to “get”. I’m not normally into sci-fi but I love the Who. I loved Casanova as well! DT was brilliant in that.

My goodness, I certainly could see Hugh Laurie as The Doctor! Exactly the right insouciance, with a touch of irony!

That made me laugh too – never seen it before. And I love David Tennant as the Doctor :))

From Spooks to Who? Robert Glenister would be good, though for some reason I think probably more in the vein of the Dr Who I watched growing up (ie not the milennial Dr). And Hugh Simon would be great as well. And I’ve no doubt that Peter Firth would do something outrageously different if he were cast in the role.

Oh, and I just had a bizarre moment imagining Hermione Norris as the first female Doctor. How cool would that be?

Oh I never considered Hugh Simon! He’d be well prepared for the role thanks to all the Malcolm techno speak!

I love Who, too. My favourite is Tom Baker but I loved Tennant and Pertwee, too.

As to which spooks regular could make a good Doctor…most of them, actually! Robert Glenister would make a great Doctor – he has a gravitas and potential for a ‘dark side’ that would bring a new dimension to the lighter Doctors we’ve had recently. David Oyelowo would be good – it’s long past time we had a black Doctor… And Hermione Norris would make a fantastic Doctor – who says the Doctor has to be male?! And, of course, the darling Peter F would be a lovely Doctor – he could play it dark or light and do it well…but he’d probably say life’s too short to deal with the hassle that any new Doctor faces from critics.

I’m glad someone mentioned David Oyelowo. If it weren’t for Hugh Larie he’d probably be my second choice. Robert Glenister would be great too! (RB would make a particularly good Master, I think)

I totally love the idea of HN as Doctor – she would be rude enough, caring enough, arrogant enough, smart enough, and she’s the queen of one-liners. Someone put that idea to TPTB!!!

I love Doctor Who as well, and really had to LOL when you posted that Lucas/McGuyver/Doctor reference. I did not grow up on it (I am from the Netherlands), but seem to remember that at some point in time way back it was shown a couple of times on Dutch telly. I really became a fan when Eccleston played the Doctor, but my favorit is David Tennant.
I yay for HN first female Doctor!!!
