Friday Fun: Who Will Be the Next Section Chief?
As we eagerly await the return of Spooks to our TV screens (I’m guessing series 10 will go to air in October, as it did last year), I thought perhaps we could have some fun by creating a shortlist for the next section chief. Lucas, John or whatever the hell is name is certainly not going to be it – so who will it be? Here’s some suggestions…
1. Ros Myers – Well, she’s come back from the dead once before.. encore!
2. Gene Hunt (Ashes to Ashes) – How bloody awesome would that be!
3. Doctor Who – Only because I suspect he could tempt Malcolm to come back.
4. Zoe Reynolds – Her jail term and exile should be over by about now, so…
5. Captain Jack Harkness (Torchwood) – Lookout ladies… and gents. This suggestion may or may not have something to do with the fact that I’d love Captain Jack to be in every single TV show that I watch!
6. Alex Brandtner and Inspector Rex (Kommissar Rex) – Speaking of fantasies, this is MINE! I’m a bit obsessed with this show at the moment. We need another steady Adam Carter type figure to right the sinking Section D ship. With his trusty canine companion Rex, the infallible Alexander Brandtner is the man for the job!

Oh Gene Genie :D There would be too much ego parading around on the Grind if he and Harry had to work together. Which could be entertaining.
Oh Malcolm is definitely a Whovian.
I have a feeling Alec will be taking over as section chief. He seems interesting.
I will admit one thing: If Ruth and Harry don’t get together by the end of season 10, I will be pretty irritated. I think fans have been waiting for what, like 8 seasons for them to just get it together? Christ, I can’t wait much longer.
I think it’ll be Ruth. I think that she has compliled an 8-inch-thick file, presented it to the Home Secretary and wriggled her way into that position to get revenge on Harry for the pain she has suffered in their “relationship”. Who but Ruth could plant evidence (true or false) that would put Harry under scrutiny.
I would love Inspector Rex to join the Grid …lol!! I’m sure he would be harder to corrupt than former agents.
I’m not so sure about that Mulubinba, he could possibly be bribed with ham rolls!
I’d love inspector Rex to join the grid, no baddie could escape him once he’s on their tracks/smell ;O)
The new guy, I don’t think he did much to help ‘find Lucas’ or whatever he was after, so I didn’t find him that interesting, although he seems like the choice.
I never saw Ruth give orders, so I can’t really see her but I think it would be great to see her in charge.

I totally agree with you! S9 never happened and Lucas (who has finally woken up from his terrible nightmare) will be a wonderful section chief!

Adam Carter…He didn’t die in that blast, he was just shaken and not…Oh I won’t say it…Let’s just say he’s had amnesia and didn’t KNOW he was supposed to be dead…This is the storyline (a bit worn, I admit) that could bring him baaaaaack.
Interesting tidbit: Rupert PJ did, in an interview, say that the Spooks staff told him he could come back, if he wanted.
He and Roz…The best characters, alongside Harry and Ruth.
Rupert was told he could come back? Interesting! That would be one hell of a challenge for the writers!
He was…I saw it in a short interview he did not long after he left the series (I tried to find it on the web but couldn’t — if I find it later I’ll post the link)
He was saying how much he liked the cast he worked with and vice versa and his quote was something like “They said, well, if the jobs start drying up, you’re always welcome back.
In response to the interviewer, he said “I don’t think the character could survive such a blast” but then he laughed and said “But it’s “Spooks”, so you never know”.
The only even semi-realistic storyline I could think of is the amnesia thing…It’s “pushing it”..but hey, I’d suspend my disbelief to have him back!
Komissar Rex. no doubt.
First of all…Tom is still wandering about somewhere in the world. He was brilliant and would bring great strength back to Section D.
Second…I’d like to know what’s up with Zoe. Seems like all the good characters get killed, so I think the writers owe it to us to at least give us a small tidbit of an update on those who somehow managed to survive.
Third…Whilst I like Tarak just fine, the IT dept. has not been the same without Malcolm. I think they should team up like the old Malcolm/Collin duo.
Fourth…Ros already did the whole “come back from the dead” thing once. It’s Adam’s turn. I’d buy some amnesia story for him to return. I do think that Harry will be fine, though. The show can’t go on without him.
And lastly…BBC better keep this show going for several more series. :-)
