Spooks Trivia Facts

Spooks Series One

If you are a big fan of Spooks, maybe you watched it from the very first episode and now you can’t get enough of the spooky series, then you are sure to be interested in reading some fun trivia Spooks facts.

If you used to spend most of your evenings channel hopping, wondering what to watch, or going online to visit poker.dk while you downloaded films, then you are sure to be loving how exciting, thrilling and capturing the Spooks series is. If you can’t get enough of Spooks, why not read some of the fun facts below to impress your friends with?

Spooky fact 1 – Did you know that the reason Matthew Macfadyen’s character (Tom Quinn) wore glasses in the first series was because he had a burst blood vessel? If you look very closely, it is just about visible.

Spooky fact 2 – The ever so trendy lamp shades which hang from the ceiling of the Grid in the first season aren’t lamp shades at all. They are in fact bins from Ikea turned upside down.

Spooky fact 3 – If you recall, after Osborne has been assassinated a MI5 agent approaches Tom and Harry in the churchyard and whispers something in Harry’s ear. He actually says – the goose has landed. However, this scene had to be shot several times because the two actors couldn’t stop laughing.

Spooky fact 4 – If you recall the scene where Tom is talking to Ellie through the letterbox, did you know that a giant letter box had to be made so that enough of the interior of the house could be seen through it?

Spooky fact 5 – If you pay close attention, many of the themes of The Third Man film are echoed in the finale of season 2, including the appearance of a previously thought dead character.

Theorising Lucas North, John Bateman and William Blake

I’m still hanging out for someone to provide a compelling theory for John/Lucas’ enduring interest and/or dedication and obsession with the English poet and mystic William Blake. If you’re a regular reader of this blog you may recall that it’s been a fascination of mine. I don’t know a hell of a lot about William Blake and there may not have been a precise reason for the writers to involve Blake in the Lucas/John story – but that doesn’t mean we can’t take a stab at creating one. As you can probably guess, I’m not interested in hearing about so-called character contradictions and holes in story lines and plots for this particular discussion (so please respect these parameters – if you find serious discussion of John/Lucas irritating or impossible because you think season nine was a bucket of bollocks then this discussion might not be for you). Yes, I know it’s hard, but just try your darnedest to put that aside for a moment and consider genuine theories as to how William Blake inspired, comforted, (mis)informed, or motivated John. This discussion is as much about understanding William Blake as it is about understanding John Bateman. An interest in Blake is the only solid thing we know about the character (or is it?). The floor is open..

Richard Armitage/Sigmund Freud Dream

Hello Everyone! I seem to be posting on this blog again, perhaps the hiatus is over for a bit. I’ve been a bit unwell of late so I’m currently on a break from my PhD and therefore have a little more time up my sleeve. I won’t be participating in the upcoming Richard Armitage FanstRAvaganza this year but I will be cheering from the sidelines. Anyways, I found this post sitting in draft mode today, it was originally dated August 12, 2010! I probably didn’t post it because I mentioned some vague details about my research or because it is filled with more self indulgent twaddle. Either way, if you’ve been following my dreams about Spooks characters and RA, you might find it somewhat interesting. I had another dream about Freud recently, here’s the one that started it:

Kudos/Shine needs Super Spooks Fans

Hey everyone, hope you’re having a great new year! Here’s an important Spooks community service announcement:

Hi Spooks Fans!

My name is Kathryn and I’m currently trying to find contributors for a short internal film to be viewed by staff here at The Shine Group. We are creating the film to showcase the values and impact of global Shine output through audience experience and connection and one of the things we’re interested in is finding super-fans of Spooks with an extraordinary passion for the show. I came across the forum yesterday and was delighted to read many great things about the series!

The film we are making is intended to be a light-hearted and honest portrayal of our audience’s views of the shows we produce to highlight the dedication and creative excellence of those involved in our productions, and to show our staff why we do what we do as a company.

We’d love to hear from people who are SUPER fans, what is about the show that has inspired you? What makes you a super fan? Anyone with an interesting, quirky story to tell – Tell us how Spooks has changed your life!

Please get in touch if you would like to share your passion for the show on film and to let our staff know what it means to you as an audience. This is not limited to the UK, we would love to hear from everyone – Worldwide!

I look forward to hearing from you all!
