Help Needed! Poetry in Spooks

Ok folks, it’s time to put your knowledge of Spooks to use and help a fellow fan out. Nicola is working on an MA and needs to find some “Classical poetry references in British TV series Spooks” for one of her projects. She has two so far, an Abu Nuwas quote by Ruth in S3.7 and Whitman for Colin’s funeral in S5.2. There must be plenty more! The reading in 9.1 is an obvious one. I have a vague recollection of Harry and Ruth exchanging a few poetic words at some point (?). If you can think of any more please comment below (please keep in mind that Nicola hasn’t seen season nine yet so try and keep your comments S9 spoiler free). Thank you!

Poll Results: Ros Myers Vs Sir Guy of Gisborne

Since moving the Spooks Fan Blog from Blogger to the WordPress platform, my only regret has been that the Ros Vs Guy poll ended prematurely. It may have been just a bit of silly fun but the distribution of votes was quite fascinating! Here are the results:

A pretty fair distribution, don’t you think? The small majority thought Ros would kill Guy’s ass. The surprising second place result was that Robin Hood would arrive and spoil the fun. And who were the cheeky sods that voted for Lucas North to save Sir Guy? For shame! Although I voted for Ros, I think one of the more likely scenarios would be Guy running away. He’s not stupid, he knows when he’s beaten!

Due to the poll closing early, I’m tempted to resurrect it at a later stage. I simply cannot let the idea of Ros Vs Guy go just yet! BTW, you can still sign the Ros Vs Guy Children in Need pledge. Thanks again to Violet for the inspiration.

New Poll: Ros Myers Vs Sir Guy of Gisborne

Ros Vs Guy

Violet made an awesome suggestion in a comment on my on recent Robin Hood dream that’s completely captured my imagination – Imagine Ros Myers in a fight with Guy of Gisborne? How insane would that be? I’m tipping it would be a pretty dirty battle. I love the idea of program cross-overs (I still think Lucas North is a Timelord, he totally used a sonic screwdriver in 7.6). So for a bit of silly fun here’s a new poll:

Ros Myers vs Guy of Gisborne in a fight: Who would win?

Vote and Discuss!

The voting booth is located top right and will remain open for two weeks.
And remember that I’m yet to see RH3, so no spoilers in comments please!

Favourite Series Poll Extended

I’ve decided to extended the Favourite Season of Spooks Poll for another month. I don’t expect the poll to contain a representative of sample of the Spooks viewing population, but even so, I think the recent Richard Armitage Fanstravaganza may have influenced the results thus far somewhat! So in the interests of the at least attempting to have a mildly more balanced ballot, it’s open for another month.

Fanstravaganza Poll Results and Thank yous

That’s all folks! The Richard Armitage Fanstravaganza has come to close. A big thank you to Nat from the Richard Armitage Fan Blog for organising the event. Big thanks also to all the wonderful bloggers who participated (Nat has posted a summary of RAF here). And last but not least, thanks to all of you for blog-hopping and leaving great comments. It’s been a blast! I hope the Spooks fans will stick around for more Spooky fun on the Spooks Fan Blog. And now for the moment we’ve all been waiting for – the Fanstravaganza poll results! Joining us to announce the winners is the man of the hour..

POLL: Lucas North’s Cheekiest Moment

Richard Armitage Fanstravaganza – Day 3.

*SPOILER ALERT LEVEL – YELLOW (MILD)

How on earth did Lucas North survive eight years in a Russian hell hole? Answer – He kept his sense of humour! Even after all that time, they couldn’t beat it out of him! Within minutes of being released from his Russian captors Lucas was already crackin’ jokes about Russian holiday camps and being a double agent. And Harry thinks he has a sunny disposition! In this second poll for the RA Fanstravaganza you’re invited to vote for Lucas North’s cheekiest moment (… oh come on, ladies, can’t I say the word cheek without you immediately thinking about another kind of Lucas North cheek?… Oh I give up!).
